Yamal Airlines launches direct flight from Apatity to Crimea

Weekly flights to Simferopol with an Airbus A320 starts on June 7th.

Fewer Russians travel abroad, the drop was 31 percent last year, or 5,6 million people. Domestic tourism, though, rose by 1,3 million people, according to figures from Rosturizm, the Federal agency for tourism.

Authorities are encouraging Russians to choose Crimea as vacation destination.

Starting from June 7th, locals in the southern cities of the Kola Peninsula can fly directly to Simferopol, the main airport on Crimea, Hibiny airport informs on its Facebook profile.

Khibiny airport between Apatity and Kirovsk is in addition to the larger Murmashi airport outside Murmansk the only on the Kola Peninsula operating civilian passengers flights.

Yamal Airlines will operate the Crimea route with one of its 158 seats Airbus A320.

This summer will also see direct routes to Simferopol by Ural Airlines from Murmansk and Nordavia from Arkhangelsk.
