Diamond money for Arkhangelsk
The Lomonosov mine outside Arkhangelsk last year contributed with 42 million RUB of tax revenues for the regional budget, company representatives say.
The mine operated by Severalmaz, a subsidiary of diamond giant Alrosa, today employs 700 people. Production last year amounted to one million tons of ore. That volume will be boosted to five million tons in few years. As production increases, also regional tax revenues will increase, newspaper Pravda Severa reports. The development of the Lomonosov mine was started in 2003. By 2015, the second development phase is planned completed. That will cost the company about 22 billion RUB of investments, mineral.ru reports.
