Expanding the port of Murmansk

The goods turnover of the Murmansk Transport Hub will by 2015 total 15 million tons and by 2020 – 84 million tons, figures from the Russian Ministry of Transport reads.

An increasing part of the goods handling will take place on the western side of the Kola Bay, where major infrastructure and industry is planned, Oilru.com reports. By 2015, about 20 million tons of goods will be handled on the western side of the bay. By year 2020, that figure will increase to 28 million tons, Transport Minister Igor Levitin said when visiting the region last week. The administration of the Murmansk Transport Hub includes the Murmansk regional administration, the Murmansk Sea Commercial Port, the Russian Railways, Rosneft and the River Sea Port (Rosmorport).
