Expensive east – west flights

A return ticket Kirkenes – Hammerfest can cost you €1,100.

Ticket-prices with the Norwegian regional airliner Widerøe is sky-rocking within Northern Norway, according to a price survey conducted by the Tromsø-based newspaper Nordlys.

The business communitie in Hammerfest says to Nordlys that it is cheaper to fly to Crete in the Mediterranean than to fly to Kirkenes for a business-meeting.

€1,100 is the maximum price when you search the on-line booking system for a return ticket from Hammerfest in western Finnmark to Kirkenes in the east of the county. It is possible to find cheaper tickets, but then the departure times do not always mach the needs of the people travelling.

Other tickets with Widerøe that are far too expensive for most people includes a flight from Mo i Rana in Nordland county to Vadsø in Finnmark with a maximum price of €1,200, according to the survey made by Nordlys.
