Investment fund to attract foreigners
A 10 billion USD investment fund is to help attract foreign companies to Russia.
The Russian government is establishing the fund in a bid to attract foreign investors to the country. Over the last year, a number of investors have fled the country.
The 10 billion USD initiative comes directly from President Medvedev, the Financial Times reports. Among the companies which already have been approached are Apollo Management, Blackstone and Carlyle among others, the newspaper reports.
President Medvedev has made economic modernization his top priority and is keen on establishing international cooperation within the field of technological innovations. His development of the Skolkovo techno village is one the initiatives introduced. Another is to make Moscow a new international financial centre.
The establishment of the financial centre remains an undisputed priority in the development of our country, Medvedev underlined in a meeting on the issue last week, a press release from the Kremlin reads.
