More Russian overnight stays in Finland
The number of Russian overnight stays in Finland in September this year increased with as much as 23 percent year-on-year.
According to figures from Statistics Finland, there were in the course of September this year almost 54,000 Russian overnight stays in Finnish accommodation establishments. That is an increase of 23 percent compared with the same month last year.
Russians were the biggest group of foreigners in the study. Swedes came next with 44,000 nights spent, which is an increase of four per cent from the previous year.
The number of nights spent by resident and foreign tourists at Finnish accommodation establishments has been growing since July and increased further in September. Overnight visits by tourists from almost all the most important countries of inbound tourism into Finland increased in September 2010, Stats.fi informs.
