”No crisis in northern Norway”
Unemployment is dropping and business leaders are the most optimistic in all of Scandinavia. The international economic downturn has not yet much affected northern Norway, regional analysts say.
According to Nordlys, the biggest newspaper in northern Norway, unemployment in the region is dropping, and regional company leaders are among the most positive in all of Scandinavia. -Except in a few sectors like white fish and construction, the downturn has been less in northern Norway than we had expected, Erlend Bullvåg from the Bodø Graduate School of Business told Nordlys. A study from Mamut ASA concludes that 38,5 percent of the businesses in northern Norway expect bigger profits in the time ahead, Nordlys writes.
