Putin to cope with “global cooling”
-In addition to the global warming challenges, we need to address “global cooling” effects and to do so promptly, Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the regional development minister.
News agency Itar-Tass quoted Putin saying that Russia’s power engineering specialists must fix the country’s energy failures without delay.
-There are certain problems, and the national energy suppliers had entered the season in a tougher environment than it was expected. The extreme cold that has hit Europe after New Year is also hard for Russia to cope with.
Many of Russia’s problems are due to the breakdowns of thermal power trunk pipelines. We need to oversee the process, to promptly react in case of any failure and provide support for municipalities and regions, Itar-Tass quoted Putin saying at the meeting with regional development minister, Viktor Basargin on Monday.
