Energy consumption down in Murmansk
Murmansk Oblast was the only federal subject in Northwest Russian which in the first half of 2008 consumed less energy than in the same period in 2007
In general, energy consumption in Northwest Russia totalled 23,4 million kWh, which is up 2 percent year-on-year from 2007. All the subjects in the region, except Murmansk Oblast, recorded increased consumption in the period. In Murmansk, the energy consumption was down 1,4 percent year-on-year from 2007. The growth in energy consumption was biggest in Arkhangelsk Oblast (4%) and in the Republic of Karelia (3,9%), Rosbaltnord.ru reports. In the Republic of Komi, energy consumption was up 2,4 percent.
