Germans invite Gazprom to Norwegian shelf

The German gas major Verbundnetz Gas AG has invited Gazprom to joint projects on the Norwegian shelf.

The company, Germany’s third largest gas importer, has established a subsidiary which is to engage in exploration and production in the Norwegian Sea, newspaper Vedomosti reports. Company CEO Klaus-Ewald Holst now wants Gazprom to be included in the projects. The new company’s planned annual production is estimated to 20 billion cubic meters. As reported previously by Barents Observer, Norwegian oil interests have also expressed interest in engaging Gazprom in the Barents Sea. Among the potential projects is the construction of a new pipeline connecting Barents Sea deposits with existing grids in the Norwegian Sea.
