More expensive energy for Russians

Russians will have to pay 25 percent more for gas and 15 percent more for electric power in 2011, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development informs.

The ministry maintains that Russians will have to pay 25 percent more for gas both in 2011 and 2012. The price increase for electric power will amount to 15 percent in 2011 and 10 percent in 2012, a ministry spokesperson says to Interfax. For Russian industry, the gas tariff will increase by 15 percent both in 2011 and 2012, while electric power will become respectively 6,2 percent and 4 percent more expensive, Vedomosti writes.
