More gasification in Karelia
The regional government of the Republic of Karelia has signed an agreement with Gazprom, which prepares the ground for continued gasification in the region.
According to the agreement, another 1200 houses in the region will be connected with the Russian gas grid in the course of the next years, a press release from the Karelian administration reads.
The agreement is a continuation of a former agreement covering the period 2007-2009. In those years, a total of 717 million RUB was spent on gas infrastructure in the region.
Gazprom in the period 2005-2008 spent 72 billion RUB on gasification projects in the Russian regions. That brought the level of gasification in the country to 62 percent, Gazprom’s website informs. The extension of the pipeline grid continues to be among the company’s top priorities.
