Record high power consumption

Low temperatures this week made energy consumption in several Russian regions reach an all-time high.

A total of 148,7 gWh was on Wednesday this week consumed in Russia. That is more than the former record from 2005/2006, newspaper Kommersant reports. Among the regions with record-beating consumption figures were the city of Moscow and the Tyumen Oblast. Also the Northwest Russian republic of Komi saw energy consumption reach levels higher than the winter of 2005/2006. The high consumption figures come after a significant drop in consumption spurred over the last months by the economic downturn in the country.
