Russian-Norwegian joint projecting bureau
A joint Russian-Norwegian projecting bureau for oil platforms will be established by the Zvezdochka shipyard center in Severodvinsk.
The Norwegian partner in the project is Aker Solutions. The specialized department will be established at one of Zvezdochka’s ship repair plants in Arkhangelsk, Deputy General Director Aleksandr Bychkovsky told news agency Baltinfo.ru.
Russia does not have its own specialized projecting bureau for platforms and other equipment for offshore development. This has been a problem, for example in the building of the ice-strengthened platform “Prirazlomnaya” at the Sevmash shipyard, which is also located in Severodvinsk. The project plans for the platform were altered five times, leading to considerable delays in the completion, as BarentsObserver reported.
According to Bychkovsky, a resolution about the establishment of the projecting bureau has been signed by the President of the Russian Ship Repair Corporation. It will take another year and a half before the bureau will be up and running.
Zvezdochka shipyard center has long experience in cooperating with Norwegian partners. The company Zvezdochka Engineering was established in 1994 with Aker Kværner as partner.
