Sevmash lets in foreign vessels

The Russian government has granted the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk permission to let in foreign vessels in connection with the deliveries of housing modules for the Prirazlomnaya platform.

According to a decree from Prime Minister Vladimir Putin of 19 May, foreign vessels will be let into the closed military city in the period until 31 December. The reason for the decree is the deliveries of foreign-made housing modules for the Prirazlomnaya platform currently under construction in the local Sevmash yard.

Among the foreign vessels expected to Sevmash are the Belgian crane vessel Rambiz and the Norwegian barge UR-91, Murmanchanin.ru reports with reference to Portnews.ru.

The Prirazlomnaye platform is constructed for the oil field with the same name in the Pechora Sea. The ice-protected installation will be place in the area by 2011 when production is due to start.
