Smoke alarm on LNG-ship
Overheating in an electronic engine onboard the LNG-ship Arctic Discoverer, caused an alarm on the Melkøya LNG-plant in Northern Norway earlier this year.
It was in late April that the alarm went off on Melkøya, due to smoke in an electronic engine. This led to a full shutdown of all gas transfer and all security operations were initiated. In the report from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority it is noted that it was never any flames in the engine. The operation only lasted for 20 minutes before it was safe to continue the loading of gas.
