Tidal power plant back in Hammerfest
The company Hammerfest Energy is returning its 300 KW tidal power plant to the waters of Kvalsundet near Hammerfest, Arctic Norway.
The generators were four years ago taken out of the Kvalsundet waters and moved to Scotland, journal Teknisk Ukeblad informs. The power plant is based on unique technology. The generator was the first in the world which converted the movements of tidal waters to electrical energy and transferred this to the commercial energy grid,. The company has invested 100 million NOK in the project. Also on the Russian side of the border, a company has engaged in tidal power plant development
