Total wants Sevmash on board at Shtokman

French oil company Total wants Sevmash to participate in the construction of a production ship for the Shtokman project, General Director of the Russian yard confirmed after his meeting with Total’s Pierre Nergararian.

Sevmash director Nikolay Kalistratov says in a press release that Total wants to see Sevmash as one of its partners in the Shtokman project. The French company reportedly intends to involve the Severodvinsk yard in the construction of the project’s production ship.

Mr. Kalistratov met with General Director of the French oil company’s Russia branch Pierre Nergararian in Moscow this week, the Sevmash press service informs.

The two company representatives also discussed cooperation in the Kharyaga project in the Timan-Pechora province. The French company, which has operator responsibility in the project, wants Sevmash to assist in the fourth development phase of the oil field. The license in the Kharyaga project is owned by Total together with Statoil, Zarubezhneft and the Nenets Oil Company.

It is top priority for Russian authorities to include domestic industry in the Shtokman project. A number of the most advanced technology is still likely to be developed and built abroad. Both Sevmash and the nearby yard of Zvezdochka expect to get significant contracts as part of the project.
