EU outlaws seal products
European Parliament voted Tuesday to ban import of all kinds of seal products including fur, meat and seal oil, which is used in some omega-3 pills.
The bill says seal hunting is “inherently inhumane.” 550 voted for the bill while only 49 voted against.
Seals are hunted in all the four member states in the Barents Region, Norway, Russia, Finland and Sweden, according to CBC News. Both Norway and Canada says they may challenge the legislation from EU to ban import of seal products.
