New Arctic drifting research station
The first group of Russian Arctic researchers is leaving Murmansk this week to prepare North Pole 38, the research station on the ice.
15 researchers will sail from Murmansk onboard the nuclear powered icebreaker “Rossia” looking for a suitable place to located the research station on drifting ice.
North Pole 38 station will be the seventh of its kind since 2003, and the 38th since 1937.
