“Russia must protect the sea”
A Finnish Member of the European Parliament this week said that Russia must step up its efforts to protect the Baltic Sea should the country get Finnish approval of the Nord Stream pipeline project.
Mr. Ville Itälä suggested that Finland grant the Russian-German Nord Stream company permission to build its 1200 km underwater gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea on the condition that Russia steps up its efforts to protect the heavily polluted sea.
