Trutnev: Mexico Gulf catastrophe will affect shelf developers

Russian Minister of Natural Resources Yuri Trutnev believes the spills in the Gulf of Mexico will slow down the development of new offshore fields.

-The accident in the Gulf of Mexico will affect the intensity level of offshore field development and also influence the development strategies of the oil industry, Trutnev told RIA Novosti.

-All fields on the shelf will [from now on] be developed with a higher degree of care and caution, because everyone have seen from this case the high level of vulnerability of the marine environment and the big consequences, Trutnev said to the news agency.
