20 million EUR on cooperation with Russia

Finland plans to spend 20 million EUR on joint projects with Russia in 2009. This week a Russian-Finnish intergovernmental group on cross-border cooperation listed priorities for the period 2009-2011.

Russia and Finland plan to spend 20 million EUR on joint projects in 2009. In a meeting Monday in Helsinki a Russian-Finnish intergovernmental group on cross-border cooperation, led by the Russian deputy foreign minister Vladimir Titov and Finnish Secretary of State Pertti Torstila, approved a comprehensive programme for development of the cooperation in the period 2009-2011.

The programme covers areas as transport, communications, energy, nuclear safety, agriculture and forestry, ecology, healthcare and education.

- In the period we plan to initiate more than 200 projects, to which the Finnish side in 2009 grants nearly 20 million EUR, the Russian Foreign Ministry states.
