6,1 million Russians unemployed
Unemployment in Russia by the end of January 2009 totaled 6,1 million people, figures from the Russian Statistics Service show.
That is 23,1 percent more than in January 2008 and 5,1 percent more than in December 2008, Rosstat informs.
By the end of January, 75,7 million Russians were employed, which is 53 percent of the total population.
