Aeroflot-Nord expands routes in Barents

Airliner Aeroflot-Nord will expand its flights from Arkhangelsk – Murmansk – Tromsø from three to four weekly flights. In addition, the company might open flights to Finnish Lapland.

In the end of March, Aeroflot-Nord will mark its 15 years anniversary for the flight from Arkhangelsk to Tromsø via Murmansk. In a press-release the airliner says it will expand its network in the Barents Region with new routes to Finland, in addition to one more weekly flight to Tromsø starting from May. It is also planning to operate the route with a new aircraft, replacing the old Soviet style propeller An-24. Last week, general director of Aeroflot-Nord Vladimir Korotyaev and minister of foreign trade and development of Finland Paavo Vayrynen discussed the possibilities ot opening routes which would connect northern Russia with northern Finland. In addition to Rovaniemi, a route to Kittilä airport, just some few kilometres from the popular ski-resort Levi is highlighted.
