Arkhangelsk strengthens position in Shtokman project

In 2011 Shtokman Development AG intends to widen cooperation with Arkhangelsk oblast and involve leading regional industrial companies in the Shtokman project.

Chief Executive Officer of Shtokman Development AG Alexey Zagorovsky and Governor of Arkhangelsk Oblast Ilya Mikhalchuk had a working meeting on the 31st of January at the Company’s Moscow office.

According to a press-release published on the official web-page of the regional authorities, the parties discussed results from the activity of joint working groups, which were established in summer of 2010 under the Cooperation Agreement signed by the Government of the Arkhangelsk Oblast and Shtokman Development AG.

Participants of the meeting in Moscow noted that the working groups have managed to boost bi-lateral cooperation, especially concerning the involvement of local industrial companies in the project and use of transportation and logistic infrastructure of the Arkhangelsk Oblast. There is good cooperation established with the leading educational establishments on training of personnel for the Shtokman project.

Joint working groups focus on several aspects: cooperation in the area of communications with the mass media; involvement of local companies into the project; development of the system to train and upgrade specialists in Arkhangelsk Oblast to meet HR requirements of the project; use of transport and logistics infrastructure of Arkhangelsk Oblast; use of power supply system of Arkhangelsk Oblast. This working format is supposed to ensure closer and more efficient communication with the project operator and its main contractors, and, in the long run, to create comfortable working conditions for them, and have as many auxiliary production facilities on the territory of the Oblast as possible.

“Results of the cooperation between Shtokman Development AG and the Government of the Arkhangelsk Oblast in 2010 have demonstrated in full measure not only the efficiency of the form of cooperation selected, but also revealed a substantial potential for increasing the number of projects to be executed jointly by the Company and the Arkhangelsk oblast administration”, stated Alexey Zagorovsky.
