Attempts to cross the border without visa

Seven people without visas tried to get into Norway at the Storskog border crossing point to Russia on Tuesday. Last week a Russian citizen was fined for transporting foreigners without documents to the Norwegian border.

The Eastern Finnmark Police District reports that a total of seven people were returned to Russia on Tuesday this week after trying to enter Norway without valid visas to Norway and the Schengen area, newspaper Finnmarken writes.

Last Friday a Russian was fined by Norwegian police for having transported four Congolese citizens to Norway at Storskog, Finnmarken reported. The persons from Congo lacked documents and are believed to have applied for asylum in Norway.

In early May this year a group of eight Afghans showed up at the Norwegian border station of Storskog. As BarentsObserver wrote, Russian authorities and border guards were suspected to have assisted the refugees getting across the border.
