Biggest drill in decades
Finland’s defence forces have started their largest military exercise in decades.
About 18,000 soldiers and military personnel, including 7,000 reservists from all three branches of the service, are taking part in the drill, Yle News reports. The drill is named “Maanvyöry 2009” (Landslide 2009). Parts of it takes place in the northern parts of the country. It will last until 17 June.
