Bulava father dismissed
The leading engineer behind the development of the Russian Bulava missile has been dimissed from his job as leader of the Moscow Heat Technology Institute. The dismissal follows this week’s failed Bulava launch in the Barents Sea.
Mr. Yury Solomonov was on Tuesday officially dimissed from his job as leader of the Moscow Heat Technology Institute. According to newspaper Vedomosti, Mr. Solomonov himself decided to leave his job after the failed launch. However, it is likely that outside pressure made him resign.
Russia has never before dismissed one of its missile developers following a failed launch, the newspaper reports.
Mr. Solomonov has headed the Moscow Heat Technology Institute for a big number of years and has been instrumental in the development of several missiles, among them the Topol-M missile.
The Bulava missile is designed for the fourth generation of Russian nuclear powered submarines, the Borei-class.
