Ceremony for Shtokman drilling rigs
Launch of the first pontoons for the semisubmersible drilling rig for the Shtokman gas field will take place at the Vyborg Shipyard on July 7.
The launch will be marked by a seremony where Governor of Leningrad Oblast Valery Serdyukov and Deputy Chairman of the Board in Gazprom Aleksandr Ananenkov will take part, a press release from the shipyard reads.
As BarentsObserver reported, Mr. Ananenkov recently visited Vyborg Shipyard to inspect the progress.
Vyborg Shipyard and Gazprom’s daughter company Gazflot entered the contract on building of two semisubmersible drilling rigs for the Shtokman gas field in November 2007.
The rigs named the Polyarnoye Zvezda (“Polar Star“) and the Sevenoye Siyanie (“Northern Light“) will both be key components in the development of the Shtokman field.
The topsides for the rigs are under construction at the Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea. They first rig is planned to be delivered in 2010, the second in 2011.
