Clinton, Stubb discussed Russia
Foreign Minister of Finland Alexander Stubb yesterday met with U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton. Relations with Russia were high on the agenda.
Stubb emphasised that Finland’s expertise of Russia remains an issue that the United States appreciates and intends to benefit from also in future, the Foreign Ministry website informs.
“A rapprochement process with Russia is ongoing. The American Administration is extending a hand of cooperation in all directions,” Stubb said in praise. The discussions, lasting about 40 minutes, was the first official bilateral meeting between the foreign policy leaders.
Also the US role with respect to the European Union was on the meeting agenda, newspaper Helsingin Sanomat reports.
