”Continuity, stability, renewal and innovation”

In his speech to the United Russia party assembly yesterday, Russian President-Elect Dmitrii Medvedev said that the keywords for Russia’s state policy the next years will be ”continuity, stability, renewal and innovation”

Mr. Medvedev spoke to the fourth United Russia party assembly, an assembly which elected Vladimir Putin new leader of the party.

The current First Deputy Prime Minister, who will be inaugurated as new president on May 7, stressed that his main goal is to make life standards in Russia better. He also reiterated that he intends to widen the space for people’s individual freedom and that Russian democracy is in need of a stronger independence of the legislative, executive and legal branches of power.

He also underlined that a strengthening of Russia and a social-economic lift for the country is possible only if political decisions based on contemporary concepts of economic development, national interests, public values and state management are taken.

Although closely linked with the party structures, Dmitrii Medvedev remains officially a non-member of the United Russia party.
