"Cool phase in relations with Russia"
-A cool phase is underway in relations with Russia, Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen says. He is “disappointed that the use of military force remains a part of Russian foreign policy”.
Speaking on the conflict between Russia and Georgia at a meeting of the Centre Party’s Parliamentary Group in Tampere, Vanhanen noted that “Russia cannot have spheres of influence extending to other countries, where principles jointly agreed upon are not in force.” He also said that he is disappointed that the use of military force remains a part of Russian foreign policy, and that the country’s action in the Georgian conflict has been a disappointment to Finland, Yle News reports.
