Cross-border Air Force training
Norway and Sweden have decided to open their state borders for joint Air Force training. The first cross-border flights took place yesterday.
The opening up of the Norwegian-Swedish border to cross-border flights comes as Norway is seriously considering to buy more than 30 Jas Gripen jet fighters. While the two governments previously had to consent with each cross-border flight, the regional Air Force commands can now independently decide on when to fly. -We are opening the border between the countries in this cooperation, and this helps us cut costs, Swedish Air Force representative Karl-Johan Edström says to Kuriren.nu. On Monday this week, three Swedish aircrafts headed towards the Norwegian base of Bodø. The training is the first ever of the kind, NRK reports.
