Delays ahead at Shtokman
Two experienced Russian company leaders with extensive experiences from the Arctic believe the Shtokman field will be in production no earlier than in year 2021.
-Gas from the Shtokman field will come no earlier than in 2021, head of the Sevmorneftegeofizika, Mr. Konstantin Dolgunov, said in a recent meeting on shelf development organised by the Northwest Russian Federal District administration. Other experts present in the meeting were no more positive about the Shtokman perspective. Oleg Mnatsakanyan, General Director of the Aktikmorneftegazrazvedka, said he believes only his grand children will live to see production starting in the project, B-port.com reports. Both Mr. Dolgunov and Mr. Mnatsakanyan have long experiences from offshore operations in the Arctic. Meanwhile, Gazprom and its partners in the project, Total and StatoilHydro, still underline that Shtokman production will be online in 2013.
