Diesel oil into the sea
More than 260,000 litres of diesel oil this week spilled in to the sea in the small town of Batsfjord on the Barents Sea coast.
A total of 262,000 litres of diesel oil this weekend covered a major part of the Båtsfjord port area following a spill from the local Bunker Oil company, NRK reports. Oil booms was placed in the area on Monday morning. Winds were strong, and parts of the oil quickly decomposed, town authorities say. The incident has been reported the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority. The company claims that it is not to blame for the spill, arguing that all controls of the tanks have been made in line with regulations
