Election turnout might beat the records in Arkhangelsk
According to a new poll from the Foris Centre of Sociological and Market Research, as many as 86 percent of the population of Arkhangelsk Oblast intend to vote in the upcoming presidential elections. 62 percent of respondents say they will vote for Dmitrii Medvedev.
The study conducted by Foris in the period 25 January 10 February is based on 1033 respondents, newspaper Pravda Severa reports. In the poll as many as 75 percent of respondents say they will definitely participate in the elections while another 11 percent say they will most likely participate. About 10 percent of the respondents say they will not go to the polls. Thus, if the poll results turn out representative for the March 2 elections, Arkhangelsk Oblast will see the the record-high electon turnout of 86 percent. In the regional town of Novodvinsk even as many as 90 percent of respondents say they will cast their votes. Asked about their preferred candidates, 62 percent of respondents say they will vote for Dmitrii Medvedev. If the figure turns out close to the real result, the Kremlins man will get a better result in the region than the Kremlins party United Russia in the recent parliament elections. Then, the United Russia won 56,7 percent of the votes.
