Europe’s most ambitious climate, energy policy
The Swedish government this week presented two propositions which together outline the country’s energy and climate policy for the period until 2020.
-Today we present the most ambitious climate and energy policy in Europe, Maud Olofsson told the press in this Wednesday’s presentation of the policy. -We show the way towards less dependence on fossil fuels and reduced emissions which is what the world needs, she added.
The minister also underlined that the high goals will lead to new jobs and increased growth, a government press release reads.
-We show leadership ahead of this fall’s climate negotiations in Copenhagen, she said. Sweden will play a key role in the event as chair of the EU council. According to the policy, half of all Sweden’s energy consumption will by 2020 come from renewable energy sources.
