Far-off region with boost in healthcare salaries
Healthcare personnel in the remote Nenets Autonomous Okrug have over the last eight months seen a 59 percent increase in their salaries. A medical doctor in the region now makes an average of 65,000 RUB (1800 EUR).
The oil-rich region located along the coast of the Pechora Sea has become among the most expensive areas in Russia. State officials’ salaries are already the highest in the country. Now, healthcare personnel are following. The 59 medical doctors in the region now make an average of 65,000 RUB, while the 140 nurses get 55,000 RUB, which is a salary increase of as much as 59 percent only since the beginning of the year. The higher salaries have stopped the last years’ negative labour turnover in the region, newspaper Biznes Klass reports with reference to Itar-Tass.
