Finland-Murmansk cross-border connections
Finnish Minister of Transport Anu Vehviläinen will discuss cross-border transport issues when she comes to Murmansk in early August.
Minister Vehviläinen also plans to go the Russian border town of Alakurtti to discuss the development of a projected Russian-Finnish techno-park, MBnews.ru reports.
Finland is showing an increasing interest in the Shtokman gas field in the Barents Sea, as well as other industrial projects in Murmansk Oblast. Finland and Russia have long discussed improved rail connections between Salla (Finland) and Kandalaksha (Russia).
Also the Alakurtti technology park has for several years been on the table in relations between Finland and regional authorities in Murmansk.
