Finnish pulp mill for Russia
Ruukki Group, the Finnish company that made an offer to buy Stora Enso’s Kemijarvi pulp mill, wanted to run it in Finland for three years and then ship it to Russia.
According to Kauppalehti, Ruukki’s plan to transfer the mill to Russia was one of the reasons Stora Enso did not take the offer into serious consideration. Finnish-Swedish Stora Enso has announced that it will close its plant in Kemijärvi, Finnish Lapland, as part of a plan on cutting costs. One of the reasons behind the crisis in Stora Enso is the export restrictions imposed by Russian authorities on round timber, causing raw material deficits in the Finnish pulp industry.
