First of 39 launches
The Plesetsk space centre in Arkhangelsk Oblast has launched its first carrier rocket this year.
The rocket was launched on Friday, one day delayed due to technical reasons. The carrier put a Coronas-Photon satellite into orbit. This satellite is designed to study solar processes, writes Pravda.ru Russia has two space launch centres, Plesetsk in Arkhangelsk Oblast and Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan. The Russian space agency is planning to make a record 39 space launches in 2009.
