From Kiruna to space
Within a few years you may be able to travel to space from the northern Swedish city of Kiruna.
Want to see the Barents Region from space – and can afford it? Spaceport Sweden in Kiruna are working with Virgin Galactic, the world’s first commercial space line, aiming to enable aspiring space travellers to realize their dreams of experiencing space.
A month ago Spaceport Sweden in Kiruna entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with officials from the New Mexico Spaceport Authority to align with Spaceport America as ‘Sister Spaceports’. A press-release from Spaceport Sweden says they are working in collaboration and the two spaceports will increase global cooperation in the commercial space industry.
It will be space campaigns in the land of the midnight sun in the summer and the northern light in the winter.
The reason for Virgin Galactic to cooperate with Kiruna is the city’s history of space exploration since more than 50 years.
