From Murmansk to Oslo on one tank of gas
Norwegians Knut Wilthil (51) and Henrik Borchgrevink (41) plan to set a new world record by driving a Ford Mondeo from Murmansk to Oslo on only one tank of gas.
Friday September 23 they will fill the 70 liters large tank with diesel in Murmansk and start the trip to Oslo. The car, a brand new 1,6L Econetic Ford Mondeo uses 0,30 liter per mile with an average speed of 65 km/hour, Budstikka writes.
Last year the two men drove 1988,3 km on one tank of gas from Oslo to Kirkenes, TV2 reported.
The whole trip is planned down to the smallest detail – every crossroads from Murmansk to Oslo is registered, travelling provisions are chosen after certain specifications:
- We eat only fruit salad to avoid having many calls of nature, Borchgrevink says, adding that necessary stops will be planned and made only on top of hills.
