FSB boss becomes deputy governor

Former leader of the Federal Security Service (FSB) in Arkhangelsk Oblast has been appointed new regional deputy governor.

The regional legislative assembly today approved the candidacy of Aleksandr Topchii, the ex-leader of the Arkhangelsk FSB. Mr. Topchii was wanted as deputy by regional Governor Ilya Mikhalchuk. The new deputy governor will be top responsible for interrelations between the regional administration and the legislative assembly. He will also function as a link to federal authorities, Governor Mikhalchuk confirms, Rosbaltnord reports. In addition, the new high-ranking official will take on the region’s economic security.
