Gas explosion in Arkhangelsk
A housing quarter in Arkhangelsk was partly destroyed following a gas explosion this morning. Rescue authorities expect there to be casualties.
The floors between the third and fourth floors collapsed following the explosion. At least one individual is believed to have been in the floors affected, RIA Novosti reports.
Rescue workers say they fear that bigger parts of the building might collapse.
It remains not clear what triggered the blast.
Arkhangelsk still has freshly in mind the tragic explosion of March 2004 when a 9-floor building collapsed killing more than 70 people.
