Gazprom discussed Shtokman with Murmansk governor
Head of Gazprom, Aleksey Miller, today welcomed Governor of Murmansk Oblast Yuri Yevdokimov in his Moscow office. On the agenda was the development of the Shtokman field in the Barents Sea.
The two men discussed the implementation of the cooperation agreement between Gazprom and Murmansk Oblast from 2005, a press release from Gazprom reads.
In the meeting, Mr. Miller and Mr. Yevdokimov also discussed the use of regional supply companies in the development of the Shtokman project, as well as the use of Shtokman gas for the gasification of Murmansk Oblast.
Gazprom and its two partners Total and StatoilHydro intend to start gas production at Shtokman, the world’s biggest offshore gas field, in year 2013. A LNG plant will be built in Teriberka on the Barents Sea coast and a pipe will transport gas towards the Baltic Sea and consumers in Western Europe.
