Gazprom invitation to Norway

During his visit to Norway today, Gazproms Deputy Chairman, Aleksandr Medvedev, indicated that the Shtokman project is only a first step in Russian-Norwegian petroleum cooperation in the North and that the Yamal Peninsula might be next out.

Interviewed by NRK Television, Mr. Medvedev also said that Russian President-elect Dmitrii Medvedev has been instrumental in all Gazproms decision-making processes on the Barents Sea and the invitation of StatoilHydro into the Shtokman project. Newly elected Russian President Dmitrii Medvedev has for several years been the board chairman of Gazprom.
