Gazprom seeks new leader of Shtokman Development
Following the resignation of Yury Komarov from the post as CEO of the Shtokman Development AG, majority owner Gazprom is seeking his replacement. New leader of the company might be Aleksey Zagorodsky, the current deputy leader of Gazprom Dobycha Shelf.
Gazprom, which controls 51 percent of SDAG, is likely to announce the new leader of the company one of the coming days. Yury Komarov, who has been heading the company since 2008, will not get his contract with the company prolonged. Gazprom representative Yury Akhremenko yesterday confirmed to the newspaper that Komarov has left for a holiday, and “will not return to the company”.
Komarov has been working for Gazprom the last 20 years. Before his appointment to the SDAG, he headed the Sevmorneftegaz company, a former owner of the Shtokman field license.
According to sources in Gazprom, Komarov too often supported the position of project partner Total. That was not well perceived in the Gazprom management, Vedomosti reports. Gazprom and Total are reported to disagree on several key technical issues in the huge offshore gas project.
New leader of SDAG might become Aleksey Zagorodsky, the current Deputy General Director of the Gazprom Dobycha Shelf, Vedomosti writes. Gazprom Dobycha Shelf was established in 2008 as a Gazprom unit specialized in shelf development. The company now has all Gazprom’s licenses to offshore fields, including for the Shtokman field.
