Gazprom wants it all in Yamal

Russian energy major Gazprom demands full control over all gas reserves in the resource-rich Yamal Peninsula and in the nearby Kara Sea. The company has now requested the government to drop tenders to four major fields in the area.

According to newspaper Federal Press, Gazprom leader Aleksey Miller in a recent letter to PM Viktor Zubkov called for the transfer of the licenses to Gazprom without the organisation of tenders. The four licenses are all to fields in the Yamal Peninsula and the Kara Sea.

The fields – the Zapadno-Tambeyskoe, the Kruzenshteinskoe, the Mayginskoe and the Tot-Yakhinskoe – have estimated reserves of about 1,5 billion cubic meters of gas.

The four fields are expected to become among the key areas of Gazprom after year 2020 and might replace fields like the Bovanenkovskoe in Yamal, Rosbaltnord.ru reports
